Here is just a bit of the development info we did not include in the video:

How we got the inspiration for this game:

We started off by deciding general facts about the game we wanted to do, like deciding art style, and if we wanted 2d or 3d.

We ended up going with pixel art 2d game as our basis. we did this to narrow down what games we could base off, and because we wanted to make a game with those characteristics.

Then we talked about our Favorite games, and what we were currently playing. But this did not lead to anything meaningful. Next, we combed through our steam library to see if anything caught our eyes. The first one that popped out to us was VVVVVV. this was because it had quite a unique movement style, that to our knowledge no other game had. so, we decided to lock that in.

The next game was a bit ambiguous, as we decided to go with some sort of swordplay, because of the "Chivalry" prompt. so, we pulled from some other 2d sides roller swordplay games.

the main one being katana zero, and its fastpacked style of combat. We were thinking of also brining along the 1 hit kill player and enemies. but decided against it.
